    Who were Beatrice Ferarri and Gina Pellettiere? – Beatrice Ferarri and Gina Pellettiere were the Farmingdale High School employees. They were killed after a bus carrying high school band members from Long Island. The bus tumbled down a steep ravine on Interstate 84 in Orange County, New York. 

    Who were Beatrice Ferarri and Gina Pellettiere?

    Beatrice Ferarri was a 77-year-old resident of Farmingdale whereas Gina Pellettiere was 23 years old who lived near the Long Island town of Massapequa. 
    Gina Pellettiere was a band director and lone advisor to both the school’s jazz and pep bands. She was an avid skier and golfer. 
    Beatrice Ferarri was a retired teacher who worked as a faculty adviser for the school’s band program. 

    Retired Teacher and Band Director Were Killed in a Bus Crash

    on 21 September 2023, 6 buses were carrying 300 members of the Farmingdale High School marching band. The buses were going to Pennsylvania from Long Island on a trip to a music camp.
    On Thursday afternoon, One of 6 buses with 44 passengers including 40 students and 4 adults veered off a highway and the bus went down a steep 50-foot ravine. The bus overturned in Orange County, New York.

    In the bus crash, 2 adults Beatrice Ferarri and Gina Pellettiere were killed.
    6 students were critically injured. Several others suffered minor injuries at the scene.

    New York Governor Kathy Hochul purported that the incident happened due to a faulty front tire. Kathy said, 
    “A bus that literally tumbled down a 50-foot ravine within minutes. It’s extraordinary,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said. “While it’s preliminary, it’s likely that a faulty front tire contributed to the accident. Although, again, this is still under investigation. That’s a preliminary determination.”
    The Farmingdale community mourned the loss of beloved members in a Facebook post, 
    “Profoundly saddened by the passing of my colleague Gina Pellettiere, a truly wonderful teacher and musician whose legacy will cast long shadows – her smile and energy will be missed deeply and by my former colleague and department brethren.”
    The victim’s colleague wrote, 
    “Bea Ferrari. Bea retired from high school long ago but was still a community stalwart and patron of our beloved music program. Her sweet soul was well-known and called home to her maker, far too suddenly for any of us to understand.”
