FM Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a number of changes in the income tax slabs in the new tax regime. According to the new tax regime, an individual will have to pay only Rs 45000 as tax with an annual income of Rs 9 lakh.
On income up to 7 lakh INR, an individual will not pay any tax. She also said that the new regime would be the default regime.
Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian economist and politician. She has been serving as a finance minister and Corporate Affairs of India since 30 May 2019.
She served as a defense minister from 3 September 2017 to 30 May 2019. She served as a Commerce and industry minister from 26 May 2014 to 3 September 2017.
She has been a member of the Rajya Sabha since 1 July 2016.
Family Information:- Nirmala Sitharaman was born to Savitri and Narayanan in a Tamil Iyengar family in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. She did schooling in Madras and Tiruchirappalli.
She did BA in economics at the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College. She did Master of Arts degree in economics and M.Phil from JNU in Delhi.
