NFL Player Damar Hamlin in Critical Condition after Collapsing on Field

Buffalo Bills football player Damar Hamlin was in critical condition early Tuesday at a Cincinnati hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bills said.

Hamlin started organizing annual Christmas toy drives in his hometown of McKees Rocks.

The Bills drafted Hamlin in the sixth round out of Pitt in 2021, and he contributed as a rookie primarily on special teams. He took over as a starting safety in September after Pro Bowler Micah Hyde suffered a neck injury in Week 2.

Damar’s height is around 6 feet 0 inches and his weight is around 91kg. His hair color is dark brown and his eye color is brown.

We know that he's a young 24, healthy, conditioned athlete. He's in the greatest possible situation to come back to a normal life at this point, but our prayers are with him to make sure he does recover like that,” Cardillo said.

Hamlin, 24, stepped into a starting safety role for the Bills in September after Micah Hyde suffered a neck injury that ended his season. Before making it to the N.F.L., Hamlin was a team captain and centerpiece of Pitt's defense, leading the team in tackles and pass breakups during his senior season in 2020.
