Tim Wakefield was an American professional baseball knuckleball pitcher. He played 19 seasons in MLB. He started his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates but he was known for his 17-year tenure with the Boston Red Sox.
Tim Wakefield was the longest-serving player on the Boston Red Sox team. When he took retirement, at that time, he was the oldest active player in the Major Leagues. Tim made his MLB debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on 31 July 1992. He made his last MLB appearance on 25 September 2011 for the Boston Red Sox.
