Shreyas passed away in a fatal crash in the National Motorcycle Racing Championship at Chennai’s Irungattukottai.
He used to ride a 200cc motorcycle and was known as The Bengaluru Kid. During the third round race on Saturday, his helmet came off and landed on the talented teenager, injuring his head.
Shreyas was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He was born on July 26, 2010. His birthplace is Bengaluru, India, and was born to his father Copparam Hareesh who was at his bedside at the hospital.
MMSC president Ajit Thomas said,
“It is tragic to have lost a rider so young and talented. Shreyas, who was making waves with his prodigious racing talent, was provided medical assistance on the spot immediately after the incident and taken to the hospital.
“Under the circumstances, we have decided to cancel the rest of this weekend’s programme. The MMSC offers heartfelt condolences and our thoughts are with his family.”
