Martin Dino, a retired Under Secretary of the Interior and Local Government and also known as the father of actress Lisa Dino, passed away on August 8 after a battle with cancer.

Martin Dino was a retired chairman of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), worked as the presidential candidate of Rodrigo Duterte’s party, Partido Democrático Pilipino-Lacas ng Bayan, in the May 2016 elections, then mayor of Davao City. Duterte decided to contest the election. This position was taken in his place at the last moment.
Duterte subsequently appointed Dino as the chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and later as undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
