Career
In 2008, Dimitrov began frequently taking part in male contests. His first clay championship came at a futures match in Barcelona. He competed in his first ATP-level match at the Ordina Open, losing to Igor Andreev in straight sets. After winning the junior US Open, he won back-to-back futures matches on hard courts in Madrid, climbing 300 ranks to a career-high ranking of 477. He was given a wildcard into the Mutua Madrilea Madrid Open qualification round as a result of his accomplishment, however he lost to France’s Florent Serra, who was ranked No. 64 at the time.
