Dr Archana Sharma Committed Suicide
Dr Archana was serving as the gynecologist at Lalsot based private hospital where she conducted an operation on a pregnant woman who died as a result of complications. She died due to postpartum hemorrhage post-delivery.
The pregnant woman’s family accused the private hospital of negligence and Lalsot police registered an FIR against Dr Archana Sharma under the 302 of the IPC. Dr. Archana committed suicide by hanging herself inside a room of the hospital on 29 March 2022 with a suicide note in which, she wrote,
“I love my husband and children a lot. Please do not harass them after my death. I did not commit any mistake, did not kill anyone. PPH is a known complication. Stop harassing doctors so much for this. My death may prove my innocence. DON’T HARASS INNOCENT DOCTORS. Please. Love you. Don’t let my kids feel the absence of their mother.”
Lalsot police station’s officer-in-charge, Ankit Chaudhary was placed under suspension on 30 March 2022 in connection with the Dr. Archana Sharma suicide case. The government of Rajasthan ordered for removal the Dausa Superintendent of Police over the department’s handling of the case.
