She worked as an assistant casting director at Yash Raj Films for six years, she made her film debut in the company's romantic comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

She also made a debut in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017)Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Bala (2019), and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019). Chandro Tomar in Saand Ki Aankh (2019), she won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.

Bhumi Pednekar Career

Bhumi Pednekar made her acting introduction with Sharat Katariya's lighthearted comedy Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). Featuring inverse Ayushmann Khurrana, she included as Sandhya, an overweight lady who weds Khurrana's character. In anticipation of the job, Pednekar increased to near 12 kg, regardless of being somewhat overweight prior to shooting commenced. Rajeev Masand explored, "Pednekar takes the film with a guaranteed turn, easily making you care for Sandhya, while never lessening her to a drooling, self indulging caricature." After recording, she started shedding pounds and shared techniques and tips of the cycle through her social media.  She lost huge load before the arrival of the film.The film ends up being a sleeper hit, and Pednekar won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
